Go ahead and introduce yourself.
Graciela Juarez di Scimtar – but everyone calls me Grace
Tell us where and when were you born.
I was born in Riverside, California, here on Earth
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a mid-tier Second Order Guardian, a highly trained psionic, although not born operant and in the middle of the lowest tier of mind power, that’s still enough to allow me to do the vast majority of what even the strongest Guardians can do. I’ve adopted what the Empire calls an ‘endurance build’ physically – I’m about 5 foot 6 now, and you might guess I’d weigh about 140, but it’s more like 180 because operant muscle is dense. On the minus side, it’s a lot harder to swim now. On the plus side, I’m about five times stronger and thirty times faster, and that’s just the physical side.
Tell us about where you grew up.
Riverside is a low density city by Imperial standards. Single family detached dwellings, all suburban with few greenbelts, no massive arcologies.
How old are you?
I am 41 Imperial years of age as measured by personal duration.
Did you have a happy childhood? Why/why not?
Very happy and carefree. My mother devoted herself to raising her children, my father made enough to support the family well, three older sisters and one older brother who all looked out for me. I should have appreciated it more at the time.
Past/ present relationships? How did they affect you?
I was wild from about the age of 15 to 23 Earth years (21 to 32 Imperial). Lots of lovers, only one really serious though. When he committed suicide, it made me really take a hard look and decide to fix myself.
What do you value above all else in life?
My new husband and unborn children.
What are you obsessed with?
I want to deal with the fractal demons infesting Earth, and try to redirect Earth’s population into something closer to sanity.
How do your beliefs make life better for yourself and the people you care about?
There aren’t nearly so many fractal demons as there were a few months ago, and their human stooges are learning what a poor bargain they made. I’ve also taken thousands of homeless dogs from Earth and found them homes in the Empire.
Biggest fear?
I’ll encounter a demon or other enemy too much stronger than I am, and die with my work only barely started.
What line will you never cross?
I won’t make things worse – really worse – just to convince someone to go along with me.
What is the best thing that ever happened to you? The worst?
The best was when Asto and I just fit together like I’d always heard husband and wife should. The worst was when his Asto’s uncle sacrificed himself.
Most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
Asto’s younger brother Etonas propositioning me right at family dinner with his whole family there at the table
Biggest secret?
You keep asking, and I’m still not going to say a word.
What is the one word you would use to define yourself? Focused
What is your current goal? Making Earth more sane and rational.
